From AI-Potential to Reality:
Digital Procurement Trends for 2026
The annual survey on the digital and future development of procurement in mid-sized companies
Expectations around procurement keep rising. Efficiency, transparency, and control are now baseline requirements. At the same time, automation and AI are changing what’s possible – and what’s complicated. The real challenge lies in making these technologies work within existing systems and everyday routines.
Despite growing investment, many organizations still lack a clear understanding of how mature their digital processes really are. The benefits of AI are not yet consistently proven, while structural issues such as poor data quality or a lack of skills continue to slow progress.
The Procurement Barometer 2026 looks at the current use of automation and AI in mid-sized procurement organizations, highlighting what works, what doesn’t, and what still stands in the way - from investments to structures and skills. Alongside technological maturity, the study also looks at investment priorities, organizational conditions, and the capabilities required to make effective use of new technologies.
Your participation helps put current developments into perspective and build a realistic picture of the current state of play. The survey takes 5-10 minutes and is, of course, anonymous.
Thank you for your contribution!
We hope you find the questions interesting and insightful.
